Poetry by Richard Perry: Eventide

Eventide

Sunlight fades in the western sky

As darkness consumes the light of day

The hectic pace of the day now ended

The quiet hours of evening surround us

Time to rest and refresh our minds

Looking back on the day now past

The experiences and things learned

As we safely settle in our home

We thank God for helping us through

For the many blessings we received

His gentle guidance, love, and care

As the hour approaches for our rest

We say our prayers and then sleep

To refresh our bodies and our minds

Preparing for the unknown tomorrow.
