Poetry by Richard Perry: Just Wait

Just Wait

Late summer breezes fill the air;

Bright splashes of color everywhere.

Now surrounded by autumn leaves

Gently falling from the trees.

And when we stop, look up, and stare

So many branches now are bare

It’s the season change some folks fear

Aware that winter’s cold is near

The sun sets early in western skies

No more bright colors before our eyes

God has put His paintbrush away

Soon we’ll be faced with winter’s gray

Still, some folks hold unfounded fear

As days of cold and snow drew near

Some find it hard to understand

That this could be what God had planned.

Dark winter days can cause great stress

And the holidays leave folks depressed

But, soon enough their hearts will sing

When nature bursts forth in glorious spring
