Poetry by Richard Perry: Violence…Why?
Violence….Why? (Find A Better Way)
Violence is okay when defending oneself.
At all other times, it belongs on a shelf.
Like those many things we all put away,
Because we might need them someday.
How God must cry looking down from above,
Seeing one of His children strike someone they love.
Causing mental anguish and physical pain;
Leaving deep scars that forever remain.
Hands are for holding or making repairs,
Not for shoving someone down the stairs.
This happened to the lady I took for my wife.
And she lived in pain for most of her life.
Her first love brought her so many tears,
Causing her to suffer for forty long years.
Yes, we all get angry, but please understand,
Problems aren’t solved with the back of a hand.
So, try talking things out, or just walk away,
Avoiding the terrible price one might pay.
So when gripped by anger, please turn to prayer
God will comfort your soul; He’s always there.
