Poetry by Richard Perry: Winter Winds

Winter Winds

The chill of winter winds fills the air,

Signs of Christmas are everywhere.

Bright lights adorn the city street

There are smiles on everyone you meet.

For a brief moment, we find relief,

From a world filled with pain and grief.

With our family by the Christmas tree

Is where we all hope that we can be,

But for many, it is only a dream

For things are not always what they seem.

It’s hard to know what others feel,

For many, there is no Christmas meal.

The wind may blow, the snow may be deep,

Yet, many search for a place to sleep.

A place of shelter from the storm.

Where, for one night, they are safe and warm.

So, this Christmas when your family’s together,

Think of those seeking shelter from the weather.

And as you enjoy a great Christmas meal.

Pray for those lost and how they must feel.

So, give God thanks for the blessings you share.

And ask Him to keep those lost in His care.
