Your Special Day
Can there be a celebration now that you are gone?
Another question I must face as I carry on.
It’s not a day of sorrow but one to remember love.
To celebrate the love we knew as you watch from above.
For nearly half our lives we traveled hand in hand.
Trusting in the faith we shared, accepting what was planned.
Our lives started so long ago, and many miles apart.
Unaware the love we’d share was living in our heart.
Our paths differed over the years, who knew what would be,
Or that I would be blessed to have you fall in love with me.
That love still warms my heart as I live through every day.
It helps me when times get rough and when I lose my way.
You found joy in every day, although you were in pain.
Finding blessings everywhere in sunshine and in rain.
And now my life continues, fighting challenges every day.
So, on this day of celebration, there’s one thing I must say.
Happy Birthday darling, may the angels sing to you.
And I’ll live on with courage, for I know you want me to.
