Reading Food Pantry shares December needs after a month of remarkable community generosity
(1-2 minute read)
The Reading Food Pantry is extending heartfelt thanks to the community after an extraordinary outpouring of generosity throughout November. With increased need across the region, donations made a meaningful difference for neighbors facing difficult times - and Pantry volunteers say they are deeply grateful for every contribution.
As December begins, the Food Pantry is once again asking residents to review the Current Needs List and consider donating to support local families in need. This month’s priority items include:
Laundry detergent
Canned salmon
Sardines
Chicken Corn Chowder
Clam Chowder
Canned crushed tomatoes
To make giving as convenient as possible, the Pantry provides multiple ways to donate. Residents can order items directly from the Amazon Wishlist, ensuring that donations are delivered straight to their door.
Donation bins are also available at Stop & Shop and Market Basket, located near the registers, for quick drop-offs during regular shopping trips.
For those who prefer to make a monetary donation, the Pantry offers several secure options, including Venmo, PayPal, or a traditional check by mail. Details can be found on the Reading Food Pantry website.
The Reading Food Pantry is located at 6 Salem Street, in the back parking lot of the Old South United Methodist Church, and accepts donations every Wednesday from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm.
Holiday schedule note: The Pantry will be closed the last two weeks of December, but will be open for donations on Monday, December 22, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
The Reading Food Pantry thanks all who continue to support the mission of providing high-quality, respectful service to neighbors in need. Your generosity directly strengthens the well-being of the entire community.
