Reading promotes on-time vaccination during National Immunization Awareness Month
The Town of Reading is reminding residents that getting vaccines on time is one of the best ways to protect against serious diseases. August is National Immunization Awareness Month, a nationwide initiative to raise awareness about the importance of vaccinations in maintaining community health.
Why timing matters
Vaccines work by training the immune system to recognize and fight harmful germs without causing illness. They contain small amounts of weakened or inactive germs, which may cause mild, temporary side effects such as soreness. These brief effects are outweighed by the long-term protection vaccines provide, helping the body respond faster and more effectively to future infections.
Fall and Winter Vaccine Clinics
Reading residents can schedule their fall and winter vaccinations at the upcoming Reading Vaccine Clinics, held at Coolidge Middle School from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on the following dates:
Friday, September 26
Friday, October 17
Friday, November 7
Appointments can be scheduled here.
By staying up to date with recommended vaccinations, residents help protect themselves, their families, and the wider community from preventable diseases.
