Reading students name DPW snowplow fleet for the 2025-2026 season

(1-2 minute read)

For the second year in a row, Reading’s Department of Public Works is spreading winter cheer by unveiling the newly selected names for the town’s snowplow fleet. Students from all five elementary and both middle schools once again submitted creative, witty, and winter-themed suggestions - resulting in another standout lineup of names for the 2025-2026 season.

Town staff had the fun (and difficult!) job of sorting through hundreds of submissions to choose this year’s winners. The selected names for each school are:

  • Barrows: 018…67

  • Birch Meadow: Blizzard of Oz

  • Coolidge: Salty Slider

  • Joshua Eaton: Snow-Tow

  • Killam: No More Mr. Ice Guy

  • Parker: Drake Maye Will Plow the Snow Away

  • Wood End: Scoopy

“We got great feedback from the students when they saw last year’s named plows on the roads,” said Christopher Cole, Director of Public Works for Reading. “Hopefully these newly named plows will bring that same happiness to kids in Reading again this year.”

This year’s winners will join last' year’s now-beloved fleet of cleverly named plows:

  • Barrows: Frosty the Snowplow

  • Birch Meadow: Snowpy

  • Coolidge: Blizzard Blaster

  • Joshua Eaton: Baby Snow-Da

  • Killam: Plower McPower

  • Parker: Fast & Flurrious

  • Wood End: Scoop Dawg

The DPW extends a warm thank you to all students, educators, and families who participated in this fun and community-building tradition. As anticipation for next season’s contest begins to build, one thing is certain - Reading students never disappoint when it comes to creativity.
