Reproductive Equity Now Endorses Kate Lipper-Garabedian for State Senate

MELROSE – Reproductive Equity Now has endorsed Kate Lipper-Garabedian in the Democratic primary for the 5th Middlesex District State Senate seat. The organization, which advocates for reproductive freedom and healthcare access, cited Lipper-Garabedian's legislative record and her commitment to protecting and expanding reproductive rights in Massachusetts.

"Reproductive equity is always on the ballot, and that includes right here in Massachusetts," said Kathleen Melendy, Massachusetts State Director, Reproductive Equity Now. “The legislators we elect determine whether we build on our progress or leave patients and providers vulnerable to growing threats. From expanding access to affordable pregnancy care to safeguarding patient privacy, there is still important work ahead. That is why we are proud to endorse Kate Lipper-Garabedian given her demonstrated leadership and commitment to protect and advance reproductive freedom across the Commonwealth.”

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of Reproductive Equity Now," said Lipper-Garabedian. “During my six years in the State House, we have worked closely together to make Massachusetts a place where people can receive care with confidence – and where patient and provider privacy is protected when they do. As State Senator, I will continue to champion expanded access to reproductive healthcare and freedom.”

Lipper-Garabedian and Reproductive Equity Now have partnered on legislation to strengthen reproductive healthcare protections in Massachusetts, including the Location Shield Act, which bans the sale of precise personal geolocation data. The legislation, which passed the House unanimously this session, is designed in part to protect patients and providers from the growing threat of location data being used to surveil and punish those seeking or providing reproductive and gender affirming care.

Lipper-Garabedian is a candidate in the Democratic primary for the 5th Middlesex District State Senate seat, which covers Malden, Melrose, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, and Winchester (Precincts 1, 2, 3, and 8). The primary is Tuesday, September 1.
