Road milling work begins August 5 on Bancroft Ave, Haven Street, and Eliot Street

The town’s paving contractor, Lazaro Paving Corp., will begin milling and grinding the existing roadway pavement on three streets on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 7:00 am, weather permitting. The operation is expected to take two days to complete.
The work will affect:
Bancroft Avenue, from Weston Road to Hartshorn Street
Haven Street, southern half of the road width only, from Main Street to John Street
Eliot Street, from Haven Street to Green Street
Residents should expect delays, detours, and road closures. Anyone who needs their vehicle during this time should be prepared for potential delays while construction is underway. On-street parking will be prohibited and strictly enforced by the Reading Police Department.
If work falls on a scheduled trash day, residents should have trash and recycling at the curb no later than 6:30 am to ensure pickup.
