Scrap metal collection week set for March 23-27 in Reading

(1-2 minute read)

Flyer by the Town of Reading.

Residents looking to clear out old or unwanted metal items will have an easy opportunity to do so next week.

Republic Services will offer curbside scrap metal collection for Reading residents from Monday, March 23, through Friday, March 27.

How it works

Residents can participate by placing eligible scrap metal items curbside by 6:00 am on their regular trash collection day. Republic Services will collect the items during its scheduled pickup.

This special collection provides a convenient way to dispose of bulky or outdated metal items that are not typically included in regular trash service.

What to know before you put them out

Not all items are accepted, so residents are encouraged to review the official guidelines before participating.

Following the guidelines will help ensure items are collected properly and avoid missed pickups.

Why it matters

Scrap metal recycling helps:

  • Reduce landfill waste

  • Recover valuable materials

  • Support environmentally responsible disposal

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this weeklong program to dispose of unwanted metal items safely and responsibly.
