Thursday is the last day of early voting for the September 1 state primary

Today, Thursday, August 27, is the final day of in-person early voting for the September 1, 2026, state primary in Reading. Voting runs from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm at Reading Town Hall, 16 Lowell Street, in the first-floor conference room, and is open to all registered Reading voters.

Early voting began last Saturday, August 22. Because Reading Town Hall is closed on Fridays, Thursday is the last chance to cast a ballot before election day. Residents who do not vote early can still vote in person on election day, Tuesday, September 1.

Why it matters

Early voting lets residents cast a ballot on their own schedule rather than waiting for a single day at the polls. The September primary decides which candidates advance to the November 3 general election, and in races with more than one candidate from the same party, it can be where the outcome is effectively settled.
