Reading residents have two more opportunities this week to learn about the proposed FY28 Proposition 2 ½ override, as the town and Reading Public Schools continue a series of public forums ahead of the November ballot question.

The first forum is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16, at 3:00 pm in the Select Board room at Reading Town Hall, with both an in-person and virtual option available. The session will include a review of frequently asked questions, a video showcase, a walkthrough of the town’s tax calculator, and time for audience questions. RCTV will record the forum. Those who wish to join can do so via the Zoom link here.

A second forum will follow on Saturday, September 19, at 11:00 am at the Reading Public Library. RCTV will again be on site to record the session, which will be uploaded afterward for residents who are unable to attend in person.

Residents with questions about the proposed override can submit them to Override@ReadingMA.gov. Town officials thanked residents who have participated in the conversation so far and encouraged the community to keep watching, learning, and asking questions as the process continues.

More information and resources on the proposed override are available on the town’s FY28 override webpage.
