2026 compost stickers required for use of Reading Compost Center

(1-2 minute read)

As of January 1, 2026, residents of the Town of Reading must have a 2026 compost sticker in order to drop off materials at the Compost Center on Strout Avenue.

The Compost Center accepts leaves, grass clippings, and yard waste only. Stickers help the Town to ensure that the program is used by Reading residents and continues to operate efficiently.

How to purchase a 2026 Compost Sticker

Residents have two options to obtain a compost sticker:

Purchase online

Residents may buy a sticker online through the Town’s permitting system.

Purchase in person

Stickers may also be purchased in person by submitting an application at the Department of Public Works office. An application form for the new 2026 compost sticker is available on the Town’s website.

Before you visit

Residents are reminded to ensure that their vehicle clearly displays the current 2026 compost sticker before visiting the Compost Center. Vehicles without a valid sticker may be denied access.

The Town thanks residents for their cooperation and for helping keep Reading’s composting and yard waste program running smoothly.
