Birch Meadow Phase II playground and park areas to reopen May 22

(2-3 minute read)

The Town of Reading has announced that the playground, basketball courts, pathways, and surrounding park areas at Birch Meadow Phase II will officially reopen to the public on Friday, May 22.

Town officials thanked residents and nearby neighbors for their patience, understanding, and support throughout the construction process.

Grass areas to remain closed temporarily

While much of the park will reopen, officials are asking visitors to remain off newly seeded grass areas to allow the turf adequate time to establish.

The grass sections will remain roped off over the coming weeks, and periodic watering will continue during normal workday hours while the park remains open to the public.

The project faced weather and scheduling challenges

Town officials noted that, as with many outdoor construction projects, Birch Meadow Phase II experienced delays due to weather and scheduling challenges.

Despite those obstacles, officials said the Town remained focused on ensuring the project was completed safely and properly, in accordance with all design specifications and quality standards.

Ribbon-cutting ceremony planned for June

An official ribbon-cutting ceremony is currently being planned for June, with additional details expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

The Town said it looks forward to seeing residents and families enjoy the newly redeveloped space for years to come.
