Got an old couch, a broken appliance, or a shed to get rid of? If so, now is the time to plan ahead. As part of Reading’s transition to fully automated trash and recycling collection beginning July 6, the way bulk items are collected is changing significantly.

Under the new system, bulk items will no longer be picked up automatically at the curb alongside weekly trash. Residents will need to schedule pickups directly with Republic Services in advance, and payment will be required at the time of scheduling.

To schedule a bulk pickup, call Republic Services at 1-800-442-9006.
