Celebrating a decade of dedication: Alan Foulds reaches 10-year running streak milestone
(2-3 minute read)
Ten years, 3,653 consecutive days of lacing up, getting out the door, and running - rain, shine, snow, or heat. On Friday night, November 7, longtime resident and Town Moderator Alan Foulds reached this remarkable milestone, placing him among only a small number of committed runners nationwide.
Friends, including members of the Mystic Runners Club, gathered outside Marathon Sports to celebrate and join Alan for the day’s run. The group completed a 2-mile loop down Woburn Street to West Street and back up Prescott Street. As always, Alan was cheerful, steady, and ready to run, just as he has been every day for the past decade.
His loyal sidekick and wife, Ace, joined the start of the run, completing a shorter 1-mile loop. Ace also once kept a running streak of her own - 100 consecutive days to mark Alan reaching 1,000 days years ago. She noticed he was approaching that milestone and decided to run every day herself so they would celebrate the accomplishment together.
The moment came with warm community spirit and fond memories. John Desmond, a friend of the Foulds and a former runner, shared a story from the celebration held five years earlier when Alan marked his halfway point in the ten-year journey. Just then, smiles, support, and admiration filled the air.
As of today, Alan’s streak continues, now at 3,658 days and counting. His dedication and quiet consistency behind it remain an inspiration to all who know him.
We look forward to celebrating future milestones with him. Congratulations, Alan - here’s to every mile ahead!
