DPW Recycling Day offers multiple drop-off options for residents

Reading residents will have multiple opportunities to recycle a variety of household items during an upcoming DPW Recycling Day on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
The event will take place from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the DPW Facility, 75 Newcrossing Road, and is open only to Reading residents. Commercial or business materials will not be accepted.
What you can recycle
The event brings together several recycling programs in one convenient location.
Electronics collection
Residents can drop off:
Flatscreen TVs, computers, and small electronics
Note: CRT TVs and monitors will NOT be accepted
Paper shredding
Secure, on-site shredding available
Limit of one box per household
Rigid plastics & styrofoam collection
Rigid plastics such as toys, plastic chairs, and containers
Clean, white #6 styrofoam clocks and sheets only
NO food containers or colored styrofoam
Textile Collection (simple recycling)
Clothing, textiles, and related items are accepted
A convenient way to recycle responsibly
DPW officials say the event is designed to make it easier for residents to responsibly dispose of items that are not typically accepted through regular curbside recycling.
By participating, residents help reduce waste, support recycling efforts, and keep reusable materials out of landfills.
