Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day set for May 2

Reading residents will have the opportunity to safely dispose of hazardous household items during the Town’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday, May 2, 2026.

The event will take place from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the DPW Facility located at 75 Newcrossing Road.

Safe disposal of household materials

This event is designed to help residents properly dispose of items that cannot be placed in regular trash due to environmental and safety concerns.

Common hazardous materials include cleaning chemicals, automotive fluids, pesticides, and other potentially harmful products.

What to bring - and what to know

Residents planning to attend should keep the following guidelines in mind:

  • Bring a driver’s license for identification

  • No commercial waste will be accepted

  • Latex paint will NOT be accepted

  • CRT televisions will NOT be collected at this event

Following these rules helps ensure the event runs safely and efficiently for all participants.
