Poetry by Richard Perry: Let’s Go For A Ride
Let’s Go For A Ride
“Let’s go for a ride,” that's what she would say;
Especially when having a difficult day.
The pain and depression made some days rough.
And she liked to go out when she’d had enough.
So onto the chairlift and down to the car;
No set destination, no need to go far.
Turn on a CD and push back her seat.
Time out of the house was a real treat.
Even in winter, she’d insist that we go;
She loved seeing the trees covered with snow.
In autumn, the colors made it a real treat.
And when she could, she’d sit up in her seat.
Getting out in summer was surely a dream;
And we usually stop and have an ice cream.
Now, when I take rides, I can almost see
My beautiful angel still riding with me.
