Poetry by Richard Perry: There’s Joy Each Day

 There’s Joy Each Day

Is there anything sweeter than a morning in spring?

When flowers are blooming, and you hear the birds sing?

Or maybe the sound of happy children at play;

That brings joy to your heart and brightens your day.

Perhaps it’s the sound of a newborn’s first cry;

That fills you with joy and brings a tear to your eye.

You can find happiness and joy in each day.

Yet, the troubles of life often get in the way.

Things that cause darkness and block out the light,

Bringing hours of sadness from morning til night.

We all have these struggles, but we can’t lose hope.

If you reach out in prayer, God will help you to cope.

You still will have battles, but with God by your side,

Joy can be found, just let Him be your guide.

And while facing each day, you might be surprised,

Joy is always there when you open your eyes.
