Reading DPW announces fall leaf collection schedule

(1-minute read)

The Department of Public Works will begin curbside yard waste collection for the fall season the week of Monday, October 26, 2026.

Collection weeks

Curbside leaf collection will take place during the following weeks this fall:

  • October 26 through October 30

  • November 2 through November 6

  • November 16 through November 20

  • November 30 through December 4

Yard waste will be picked up on residents’ regular collection day, and the DPW will post updates if delays occur.

What to know before putting leaves at the curb

Place yard waste at the curb in paper bags or open barrels. Sticks may be no thicker than 3 inches in diameter and no longer than 4 feet, and small branches should be bundled and tied. DPW will not collect yard waste placed in plastic bags or cardboard boxes.

The DPW will post periodic reminders throughout the season and encourage residents to have leaves ready for pickup during the scheduled weeks.

Residents with questions can contact Reading DPW at 781-942-9077 or visit the town website for more information.
