Reading Police Department invites community to 2026 Open House

The Reading Police Department is inviting residents to its 2026 Open House on Saturday, May 20, offering the community a chance to meet local officers, explore police equipment, and enjoy a family-friendly afternoon.

The event will take place from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm at the Reading Police Department, located at 15 Union Street.

Organizers describe the event as a fun opportunity for residents of all ages to connect with public safety personnel and learn more about the work officers do throughout the community.

What to expect

Attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Meet Reading police officers

  • Explore police vehicles and specialized equipment

  • Learn more about department operations

  • Ask questions and engage with local public safety personnel

The event will also feature:

  • SWAT vehicle and equipment displays

  • RPD drone demonstrations

  • Face painting with the Massachusetts State Police

  • Participation from the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. military

  • Bouncy houses and activities for children

  • Free food and additional activities

Building community connections

The annual open house is designed to strengthen relationships between residents and law enforcement and to create a welcoming environment for community engagement.

Police officials say the event is intended to give residents a behind-the-scenes look at public safety operations while providing an opportunity for casual conversation and connection.
