MassDOT to hold virtual public hearing on Oakland Road safety improvements near Reading schools
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) Highway Division has announced that it will host a Virtual Design Public Hearing to present plans for major safety and accessibility improvements along Oakland Road near Reading Memorial High School and Arthur W. Coolidge Middle School.
Soul and Steel: Reading Symphony Orchestra opens 2025-26 season
The Reading Symphony Orchestra (RSO) will launch its 2025-2026 season with Soul and Steel, an exciting program taking place on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium at Galvin Middle School in Wakefield. The evening features an eclectic mix of contemporary and classical works, including Anna Meredith’s Nautilus, Judith Weir’s Still, Glowing, and Shostakovich’s powerful Symphony No. 5.

Reading Democratic Town Committee Hosts Successful Annual Fundraising Dinner
The Reading Democratic Town Committee (RDTC) held its annual fundraising dinner on Friday, October 17, at the Old South Church. The event drew a strong turnout of more than fifty attendees, including Senator Jason Lewis, Representative Richard Haggerty, and Reading Select Board member Karen Gately Herrick.
MBTA turnback track & rail improvements forum
This meeting will provide members of the Reading community with an opportunity to become fully acquainted with the MBTA’s proposed Reading Turnback Track and commuter rail service improvement plans associated with it. The meeting will also address questions raised by attendees at a public meeting addressing this project held in February of this year.
Bylaw Committee to hold public forums on potential snow shoveling bylaw
The Reading Bylaw Committee will hold two upcoming public forums to gather input on a potential Snow Shoveling Bylaw.

Community Forum to discuss Killam School and ReCAL projects set for April 16
Residents are invited to join town officials and project leaders for an important virtual community forum on two major initiatives coming before voters this spring: the Killam Elementary School Building project and the Reading Center for Active Living (ReCAL) project.
