Healey-Driscoll Administration Designates the Town of Reading as a New Green Community

The Healey-Driscoll Administration today announced that the Department of Energy Resources (DOER) designated the town of Reading as a Green Community. As a new Green Community, Reading commits to reducing energy use and emissions through clean energy and efficiency initiatives. Reading is now eligible for designation grant funding totaling more than $160,000 for energy projects in municipal and school buildings and fleets.

Town of Reading Green Communities Designation

Today the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) officially recognized the Town of Reading as a Green Community. A ceremony on the Town Common brought together DOER Commissioner Elizabeth Mahony, members of the Reading legislative delegation, the Select Board, the Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) Board of Commissioners and Town leaders to celebrate the achievement.

Community gathers for Bike Rally at Reading Public Library

On Thursday, August 14, a small group of residents gathered for the Bike Rally in the parking lot of the Reading Public Library. Under a beautiful sky, riders of all ages and skill levels showed off their wheels - from the youngest participant on a balancing bike, to another with training wheels and pinwheels, to several older kids zooming around with confidence. Reading Cares also joined in, hosting a table and handing out stickers from REI.

Fatal Main Street collision leads to criminal charges

Chief David Clark reports that the Reading Police Department, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Collision and Accident Reconstruction Section (CARS) and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, has completed its investigation into the May four-car crash that resulted in the death of one individual.
